Well, yesterday was productive, yet ended with a sad note. Lets get to the bad news first.
My first real development device, the HTC Doubleshot (also known as the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide) apparently received its last update earlier this month.
I got word from CyanogenMod that they have ceased taking Android Security Bulletins for CM11 (based on Android KitKat) a few days ago. Since CM11 was my upstream source to patch the ROM I have been building for about a year and a half (CarbonROM 4.4.4), the project I have been dragging on is now end-of-life.
On the other hand, still on the CarbonROM front, I spent a great deal of yesterday and some of Friday night helping with the bring-up of the Nvidia SHIELD tablet to Android Nougat (using CarbonROM CR-5.0). Got a booting system (after one post-install modification to the boot animation) before CyanogenMod. Audio still has to be worked out, and the Carbon team has much work to do with the ROM itself, but it’s a great start.
At some point I will be doing a little bring-up for the ASUS ZenFone 2 – once that development team has taken a first look.
